Released on April 15, 2008, via Nuclear Blast, We Are the Nightmare is the 3rd full-length studio album by the Virginia-based Technical Melodic Death Metal outfit. It is often cited as one of the most polarizing entries in their discography—a record that pushed their technicality to such an extreme that it nearly broke the "melodic" part of their identity.

Following the massive underground success of A Celebration of Guilt, mastermind James Malone decided to "level up" the complexity. The result is an album that feels like a 40-minute guitar solo disguised as a collection of songs.

It is now viewed as a landmark of the mid-2000's Tech-Death explosion, proving that you could be "too technical for your own good" and still create something memorable.
