Product Details
BLACK SABBATH - Paranoid (used CD copy) Warner Bros. Canadian pressing (re-issue) in a standard jewel case w/black tray.
Originally released in
1970,
"Paranoid" is the
2nd full-length studio album by
BLACK SABBATH and is widely considered the
"blueprint" for heavy metal. Originally intended to be titled
War Pigs, the name was changed at the last minute by the record label to capitalize on the success of the title track's single.
Tony Iommi’s down-tuned, heavy guitar riffs created a dark, ominous atmosphere that defined the genre. Moving away from the bluesy rock of the era, the lyrics
(mostly written by bassist Geezer Butler) explored heavy topics like war, mental illness (PTSD), nuclear annihilation, and drug use.
Ozzy Osbourne’s haunting, wailing delivery provided a unique,
"un-pretty" vocal style that perfectly matched the music's intensity.
"Paranoid" is frequently cited as one of the greatest albums of all time and has been certified 4X Platinum in the US. -- Warner Bros. Records – CD 3104
