Originally released in 2014, "Promulgation Of The Fall" is the 2nd full-length studio album by the Greek titans DEAD CONGREGATION. It is widely considered one of the most important Death Metal albums of the 21st century, often credited with revitalizing the "dark" and "atmospheric" style of the genre.
Unlike many
"cavernous" bands that rely on heavy reverb to hide their playing,
DEAD CONGREGATION uses sheer technical precision to create a sense of dread. The album feels
"wide" and
"massive" rather than just
"muddy."
It draws heavy inspiration from the early 90's
(especially Incantation, Immolation, and Morbid Angel), but updates it with a violent, modern intensity. The drumming by
V.V. is particularly praised for its relentless speed and creative fills.
