GG ALLIN & THE JABBERS - Live @ The Rat LP
GG ALLIN & THE JABBERS - Live @ The Rat LP (2018 Blood Orange Re-issue on Black vinyl. This is the first official release from Blood Orange Records! Repressed with new jacket design & inserts as well as some audio tweaks! This was recorded LIVE from GG Allin & The Jabbers first tour ever! This show was part of the small tour the Jabbers did with David Peel and the Lower East Side (Peel had the Jabbers play as his band on this tour with GG playing drums, Rob & Johnny on guitar and Alan Chapple on bass - so they had some long nights playing with Peel, then playing their own set, then returning for a 2nd set in a few cases!).
Recorded LIVE on May 14th, 1980 at the Rathskellar in Boston, Massachusetts. Arthur Slick & The Nice Girls opened, GG Allin & The Jabbers played second, and David Peel headlined. This is the only live recording featuring all original members of the Jabbers (Allin, Chapple, Fortin, and Basso, with Might Ions drummer Bob MacKenzie on drums).
The person who recorded the show, taped the complete Jabbers set and then recorded Peel's set, which was so long he flipped the tape when Side A ran out, recorded Peel on all of Side B, and then flipped the tape again to continue recording, which is why the very beginning of "Don't Talk To Me" is cut off. The source tape was mixed and mastered in 2018 by Swedish record producer and label owner Güs Sissüm.
This show was recorded a few weeks before GG & The Jabbers went into the studio to record their iconic debut, "Always Was" LP and features the best lineup of talented musicians they ever had in the early 80's! **originally published on ggallinandthejabbers.com** Blood Orange Records – BOR1980-01
