Infinitum Obscure - Sub Atris Caelis CD
INFINITUM OBSCURE (Mexico) - Sub Atris Caelis CD (2009). The 2nd full-length studio album from Tijuana Mexico's INFINITUM OBSCURE has been unleashed! An auditory manifesto of the end of humanity and the transcendence of the inner flame. This is Old School Death Metal done the Old School way. Sure, there’s a touch of the more modern way of interpreting Old School, but dammit if it doesn’t take you back to the days when Death Metal was played just for the love of it. It sounds like a mixture of the European and American agendas. Unanimated comes to mind for the sweet melodies that just reap through your innards all while some classic ideas bring early Morbid Angel to mind.
Still, I can’t help but to feel a slight hint towards French Black Metal at times, reeking of Antaeus ferocity and riffing indulging itself in thrashing groove; which makes the conclusion a somewhat Melodic Old School Death Metal album with Black and Thrash tendencies. Might sound sloppy by default, but is actually done quite masterfully. It’s a dark and obscure journey these Mexican’s take the listener on, one filled with enough Satanic philosophy and supremely atmospheric music that is sure to satisfy fans of both Dissection and Unanimated; seriously impressive.
Recorded by Metal legend Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Morbid Angel, Rigor Mortis, etc.) and mastered at the respected Necromorbus Studio.
