DISMA (USA) - Earthendium CDEP (2022) New Jersey Death Metal legends DISMA are back with a brand new 3-track EP! Out now via Necroharmonic Productions (USA).

**The following album review was written by: Jørgen Sven Kirby (aka "Nattskog")**

Churning riffs come into life with a tarry filth atop waves of crashing cymbals. The low-tuned swirling murk is soon met with hideously snarled vocals, completing the DISMA sound which heaves with sheer brutality. Their savagely Old School Death Metal makes no compromises and leaves nothing but putrefying viscera in the wake of their charnel morbidity. Naturally there are macabre Doom moments that drag out sepulchral atmospherics while retaining the barbaric mood of the EP.

A crusty but clear production gives the early 90's style of the music a well-fitted presentation, alongside the magnificent cover artwork, once again by Ola Larsson. Those familiar bouncing sections give that classic Rottrevore / Cianide catchiness to the tracks without feeling out of touch with the gaping chasms of odious blasting ferocity. “Imprecation of Diabolical Scourge” is a superb opener of cataclysmic Death Metal glory, setting a high precedent for whatever lurks ahead.

Moving with an eldritch crawl from track to track, the ichorous atmospherics and sludgy grooves morph into one monstrous cacophony of all things morbid. The roaring guttural vocals and mangled drumming contort around a very riff-centred execution that places a lot of focus on creeping, eerie guitars that often progress into bludgeoning forcefulness. Delving into the crypts twice more with the scornful fury of ”Beyond The Dimensionless” and Doomy monolith “Earthendium”, both have all of the hallmarks of top-quality DISMA material.

Raw bass guitars seep further into the foreground here and there which superbly underlines the battering rhythmic side without undermining those malicious guitars and vocals. Swaying putridity warps into hammering avalanches of rot, while always feeling natural in both sound and arrangement. This is a band whose unfaltering loyalty to real Death Metal supersedes any need for gimmick or trendy selling points. If you like the real thing, this is it. If you do not, then move along because this is a truly unforgiving EP from a legitimately inexorable band.

DISMA may not have a large catalogue in quantity, but their album and surrounding EP's / demos / splits showcase a band who clearly prioritize absolutely astounding quality on everything they do. “Earthendium” is another gem in the murkiest depths of the Death Metal underground that sees an unfaltering band release material of their consistently excellent quality. DISMA are back, as killer as ever. -- Necroharmonic – SLEAZY038
