Inepsy – City Weapons CD
INEPSY (Montréal, Canada) - City Weapons (sealed CD copy) (2005) A personal favourite from the Crust Punk/Speed Metal genre, I honestly cannot recommend INEPSY enough. Accompanied by the buzzing sound of falling bombs, Invading City Weapons, a damn catchy instrumental opening track, marks the beginning of the end when after that the first detonation hits the streets in form of the title-track. In the best manner of total Motörhead worship, INEPSY come along impelling, battering out slacking Crust Punk riffs and quite melodic leads, every now and then adding short guitar solo passages for a fitting change. Chany’s throaty vocals add the mentioned Crust influence whereas his voice doesn’t really transport the genre-fitting fury and anger but sounding just way more mature, cool and full of a “so-fucking-what” attitude which couldn’t be more fitting to INEPSY’s music. Definitely amongst my top 5 mosh pit misses for live performances, INEPSY brought a whole new level of crust/scum-driven energy to their sets.
Finally one song deserves a special mention - I have to praise the hardly believable The Last Call. At the most one could describe it as the perfect song for really bringing the album’s atmosphere, that the destruction of the city was just the beginning of the end, to the final point. Namely in that way, that this really is the utterly last call. Get a whiskey, light a cigarette and the last one switching off the light with a final smile on his lips and the middle finger held high. Feral Ward – YAN-0012-027
