NILE (USA) - Annihilation Of The Wicked (used CD copy) (2005) Released by Relapse Records in a tri-fold (6-panel) Digipak w/clear tray & 16-page booklet. **Digipak has visible signs of wear on front cover**
This was the first album to feature Greek drummer George Kollias. His superhuman speed and precision (notably the 256 BPM blast beats on "The Burning Pits Of The Duat") redefined the band's sound and the expectations for the genre at large.
Moving away from the murkier, cavernous sound of "In Their Darkened Shrines," Neil Kernon provided a crystal-clear yet massive mix that allowed the complex guitar interplay and rapid-fire drumming to stand out.
As with previous releases, Karl Sanders included extensive essays in the booklet explaining the historical and mythological basis for each track—ranging from the Hittite Empire to the Egyptian Book Of The Dead.
Meticulously produced and mixed at The Sound Lab SC by Neil Kernon (known for his work with Queensrÿche and Nevermore)
