Kopár Hant... Az Alvilág Felé (2021) is the
debut full-length studio album from the Hungarian Death-Doom powerhouse
ROTHADÁS. It is widely considered one of the most suffocating and atmospheric releases in the modern
"Cavernous" Death Metal scene. The music is incredibly bleak and
"wet," sounding as if it were recorded in a damp tomb. It balances glacial, funeral-speed Doom passages with sudden bursts of chaotic, Primitive Death Metal.
Uniquely, all lyrics and titles are in Hungarian, which adds a rhythmic, guttural quality to the vocals that feels distinct from English-speaking bands in the genre.
The sound is massive, favoring a thick "wall of sound" where the bass and drums feel physically heavy.
If you enjoy the crushing weight of
Disembowelment, the filth of
Undergang, or the cavernous depths of
Incantation, this album sits right in that sweet spot.
