UNBIRTH (Italy) - Fleshforged Columns of Deceit CD (2018) (used CD copy) The band's name "Unbirth" refers to a sexual fetish involving the desire to be "swallowed alive" by the female genitalia. That should give you an idea of what they sound like. Excellent musicianship without getting overly technical and losing the Death Metal vibe. A festival of riffs. The guitar work is absolutely top notch for this style of Brutal Death Metal. Production and overall mix work very well here to represent what the band is attempting to achieve, bringing enough clarity along with the punch this type of music requires in order to be effective. The sound retains it’s modern feel as well as some of the Old School feel from the early 90’s.

A very satisfying release (the band's 2nd full-length studio effort) which surprised me. Not an easy feat when you consider the sheer amount of bands on the scene right now playing this style. But UNBIRTH lay most of them to waste. Not to be missed if you’re a fan of the genre.
