A collection of Varg’s favorite tracks from his first two studio albums "Burzum" and "Det Som Engang Var" completely  re-recorded in March 2010 the way he originally intended. Lyrics on track 4 taken from the "Book Of The Dead". According to Varg, "This album is dedicated to Pytten. In gratitude for his perseverance in relation to BURZUM."

The Depths Of Darkness” is Burzum's 9th full-length studio effort (although Vikernes does not consider it to be a full-length release, and lists it as a compilation on his official website). 
Either way, "From The Depths..." offers a new and
 quite interesting perspective on some of the most Classic Black Metal 
songs ever recorded – an album that can proudly find its place next to 
the groundbreaking “Burzum” (1992) and “Det Som Engang Var” (1993), 
providing a very thought-provoking/alternative musical proposition.
