Released in July 2021 via Hells Headbangers, "Into Never Shall" is the debut full-length studio album from Ottawa’s EXPUNGED. It expands on the "Stockholm-Style" filth established in their debut EP, offering a larger, more menacing soundscape that reinforces their obsession with the HM-2 buzzsaw pedal and Old School Death Metal (OSDM) classicism.
While the EP was a concentrated burst of aggression, "Into Never Shall" introduces a decidedly darker, more supernatural atmosphere. The band maintains their crushing heaviness but punctuates it with lurching, doom-laden passages and eerie, melodic flickers.
The tracks are more streamlined and catchy than their earlier work. The band leans into a "monolithic tank" approach—driving, rhythmic, and unstoppable, drawing direct comparisons to the relentless pace of Bolt Thrower and the jagged edge of D-beat/Hardcore Punk.
