LOSS (Tennessee, USA) - Life Without Hope...Death Without Reason (sealed CD copy) (2005) Deathgasm Records (re-issue) in a standard jewel case w/black tray & 4-page booklet.

This CD contains the 3-track 2004 demo "Life Without Hope...Death Without Reason" originally released on cassette by Weird Truth Productions (Japan) plus two bonus live tracks - including a Katatonia cover. Clocking in at over 35 minutes of depressing dark art.

If Funeral Doom has a basement, LOSS is currently residing in its darkest, dampest corner. Originally released as a demo in 2004 and later expanded for re-issue, Life Without Hope... Death Without Reason is a definitive document of "suicidal" Doom Metal—a genre that trades speed for the sheer weight of human misery.
While many of their peers rely on symphonic layers to create atmosphere, LOSS strips the genre down to its skeletal remains: organic guitars, cavernous growls, and a pace that feels like a slow march toward the inevitable.
This isn't just "slow"; it is a rhythmic stalemate. The drums, echoing the minimalist approach of bands like Burning Witch, act as the steady, agonizing heartbeat of the record.
Moving away from standard power chords, the band utilizes single-note melodies and weeping harmonies. It creates a neo-classical minor-key gloom that sounds more like a lament than a traditional Metal riff.
Mike Meacham’s delivery is a lethargic, "worn-out" growl. It’s the sound of someone who has run out of things to say but is forced to exhale the bitterness anyway. -- Deathgasm Records – DG 027
