Released in 1994, Expectational Dilution is the debut full-length studio album from the Massachusetts quintet Overcast. The album features a young Brian Fair (from Shadows Fall on vocals) and Mike D'Antonio (future founder of Killswitch Engage on bass), it is widely regarded as a foundational blueprint for the modern Metalcore genre, bridging the gap between New York-style Hardcore and Melodic Death Metal years before the sound gained massive popularity.
Before "Metalcore" was a household term, OVERCAST was blending crunchy thrash riffs and groove metal with the raw energy of the 90s hardcore scene.
