CONTORTED MIND is a relatively new Brutal Death Metal band, coming out 
of the Netherlands. This is their long-awaited debut EP, 'Tomb Of 
Atrocious Revelation,' and seeing as it's been released through the 
ever-reliable New Standard Elite label, you already know you are getting top tier brutality. 
20 punishing minutes of thoroughly enjoyable and well-executed Brutal Death Metal. They've got a really satisfying blend going on, with catchy chugging guitar riffs, expertly played, super fast drumming, and monstrous guttural vocals. The opening minute of the first song sets the atmosphere well, with some chilling and almost operatic echoes, before bombarding the listener with the opening riff that will guarantee to get the head banging. 
This is followed by lightning fast blast beats as the band burst in with full force, and it's here we get a taste of the utterly devastating vocals for the first time. They are dominant throughout the entire EP. The vocalist has a fantastic range of styles. His skills are heard in the opening track, as he goes from extremely low gutturals to a high pitched pig squeal. This is a top quality performance from him.
Production is also spot on. All instruments can be heard clearly, but it doesn't sound overdone. The pop of the tin can snare drum, fits well with the razor-sharp guitar sound, and the rasping vocals really top things off in the best way. It's been perfectly put together for this kind of music. 
In a year that has spawned so many excellent Brutal Death Metal releases, it is going to take something pretty special to stand out from the crowd. Considering this is the bands' debut makes it even more impressive and leave you looking forward to hearing what CONTORTED MIND can bring out in the future.
