PLAGUE BEARER (Washington, USA) - Winds Of Pestilence (new CD; not sealed) (2018) Released by Krucyator Productions in a standard jewel case w/clear tray.

A compilation of PLAGUE BEARER demos. A Death Metal side project with Herb Burke and Kelly Kuciemba from American legends DRAWN AND QUARTERED.

If you're looking for the definitive "origin story" of the Seattle Death Metal scene, this compilation is it. Released in 2018 via France's Krucyator Productions, "Winds Of Pestilence" brings together two vital demos from PLAGUE BEARER, the project that eventually morphed into the legendary Drawn And Quartered.

This CD is a historical document of a band figuring out its identity between the worlds of Black and Death Metal. It compiles two distinct eras:

Tracks 1-5: The Winds Of Pestilence demo (recorded in 2008, though the band also used this as a temporary moniker during that era).
Tracks 6-11: The Defiled by Sodomy demo (2001).
Unlike the more straight-ahead, pummeling Death Metal of Drawn And Quartered, PLAGUE BEARER leans into a colder, more "Norwegian" aesthetic.
Tracks like "In Satan's Name" feature the freezing tremolo picking and grim, cawing vocals reminiscent of the early 90's Oslo scene.
As you move into the 2001 material (Defiled by Sodomy), the sound shifts. You'll hear more "Benton-style" low growls and the slab-like, chunky riffs that would eventually define their later work.
It’s raw, underground, and unapologetically lo-fi. The production captures a "rehearsal room" grit that serves the blasphemous themes perfectly. -- Krucyator Productions – KP022
