"Depravity Ordained" is the 2019 debut full-length studio album from Melbourne, Australia’s VILE APPARITION. It is a relentless piece of "Old School" Death Metal (OSDM) that avoids modern trends in favor of a raw, bludgeoning sound.
The album is a heavy homage to the mid-90's US scene. You'll hear the technical riffing of early Suffocation (Effigy Of The Forgotten era), the frantic speed of Cryptopsy, and the rhythmic "bludgeon" style of Deeds Of Flesh.
While mostly fast-paced, the band occasionally drops into massive, Doom-laden segments, particularly on the final track, "Window Of The Grotesque," which adds a sense of suffocating dread.
VILE APPARITION was formed by members of Sewercide, and this debut quickly cemented them as a top-tier act in the "New Wave of Old School Death Metal." The Blood Harvest 12" is generally considered the definitive version for experiencing the album's dense production.
